1. Who We Are

Tally is a web-based quoting tool for tradespeople. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our Service.

2. Data We Collect

Account information: name, email address, company name, phone number, and address. This is provided by you when you register or update your account settings.

Project data: drawings you upload, projects, quotes, materials, takeoff rules, and annotations you create. This is the content you produce while using the Service.

Usage data: IP address, browser type, and session information. This is collected automatically to maintain your login session and for basic analytics.

Payment data: if you purchase a Pro plan, payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your full card details.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and maintain the Service
• To authenticate your account and maintain your session
• To process payments for paid plans
• To send you important service notifications (password resets, plan expiry reminders)
• To improve the Service based on usage patterns

We do not sell your data. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.

4. AI Processing

When you use the AI symbol detection feature, individual drawing sheet images are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic / Claude API) for analysis. Only the image is sent — not your name, email, project name, client details, or any other personal data. The AI provider processes the image to identify electrical symbols and returns the results. According to our AI provider's terms, data sent via the API is not used to train their models.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit. Passwords are stored using one-way hashing (bcrypt) and cannot be read by us or anyone else. We maintain regular backups to protect against data loss.

6. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal data with third parties except:

• AI provider — drawing images only, when you use AI detection (see section 4)
• Payment provider — payment details when you purchase a Pro plan
• Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect our legal rights

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data via your account settings
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data (project data, quotes, materials)
• Object to processing of your data

8. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

9. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data (projects, drawings, quotes, materials, annotations) will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Backups containing your data are rotated and deleted within 90 days.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The latest version is always available at this page.
